Chinua Achebe to Receive Gish Award

Acclaimed Nigerian author Chinua Achebe has been selected to receive the $300,000 Dorothy and Lillian Gish award, which recognizes artists who have made a major impact in their field.  Achebe will be presented with this award on October 27 during a ceremony in New York City.  Achebe is one of the most widely read authors in African literature and is well known for his 1958 novel, “Things Fall Apart.” Achebe joins an impressive list of past award recipients which includes Robert Redford, Frank Gehry and Bob Dylan.
